Do’s and Don’ts of Indigestion
Indigestion is a feeling of discomfort in the abdomen, minor pain in the upper part of stomach, feeling full and satisfied immediately after starting eating.
Causes
It may be caused due to weak digestion, intake of food during inappropriate time, intake of foods which are hard to digest, eating too fast or too slow and intake of oily, spicy foods in excess.
Do’s
- Thin gruel with less amount of rice can be taken to improve digestion.
- Fruits like orange, lemon, pomegranate, and gooseberry can help to improve digestion.
- Add asafetida, salt, ajwain, pepper, fenugreek, cumin seeds in your diet. These will improve digestion and relieve abdominal pain.
- Drink hot water after food for easy digestion.
Don’ts
- Avoid foods which are hard to digest like legumes, fish, milk and milk products.
- Avoid drinking water made hot by the exposure of sun rays.
- Do not suppress the natural urges like urination, bowel evacuation and flatulence.
- Avoid waking during night.
- Avoid oil bath.
- Don't skip food.
- Avoid taking untimely food.
